When Bargains go Bad
We are all tempted by a bargain, and more often than not we are quite happy with what we have purchased. However, sometimes deals can go bad.
I recently had an Arc'teryx jacket returned to me, which was not the value for money that the customer thought. It would not be an exaggeration to describe the jacket as falling to bits. It was a black jacket purporting to be an Alpha SV. However, there were so many wrong details that it was laughable. It was not made from any kind of Gore-Tex I had seen before, and it had a zip off hood, something which Arc'teryx have never done. All the zips and tabs were not standard Arc'teryx quality and where we would normally laminate seams were stitched. So all in all it was a pretty low quality fake.
After some investigation, it turned out that the jacket was bought off a Chinese seller on EBay.
It would be easy to blame the customer for being easy prey, but there are some very clever scammers out there cashing in on our desire for a good deal. In these cases we are unable to provide any kind of support, and should you end up with a counterfeit Arc'teryx item, your only recourse is to go to the police or trading standards. Our advice would always be to buy off an authorised dealer, that way your consumer rights are protected.
If in doubt, contact us for your local authorised stockist.
