Steve McClure: Evolution - Mecca extension linked
Steve McClure has linked the classic Evolution into the top of Mecca extension, perhaps the last obvious hard link on the cliff.
Jerry Moffat’s route ‘Evolution’ at Ravens Tor, though amazing, does end in the middle of the cliff. Though there’s an obvious ‘good hold’ by the belay it seems it deserves to go on for longer. Ages ago Steve climbed ‘Mutation’ which moved out right just before the belay but the original route always had an obvious extension blasting up the wall to join the last hard moves of Mecca Extension.
Evolution itself has lost an important hold near the top, though not totally crucial, and the route still goes at F8c+. A reasonable rest at the belay to recharge then the link blasts up the desperate crimpy wall, at around F8b.
